Classrooms are bright and inviting and each one is equipped with an Interactive Board with access to the internet. This is for research and teaching purposes.

CAPSA (Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement) is fully integrated in all learning areas. Learners are encouraged, through the daily programme, to develop creativity and initiative. The programme offers:

English Main Language

The language programme used at Ridge is Time2Reap. This is a method of teaching handwriting, reading and spelling and it has proved very successful. “READ TO LEARN” is a reading programme which has been introduced at Ridge. The programme aims to improve individual reading skills. It develops sound reading habits, a good understanding of the text, and improves the learner’s ability to communicate in written language.

Mathematics

Ridge places great importance on the development of sound mathematical skills. Children are well schooled in basic skills with the assistance of Numicon and concrete learning experiences. Problem solving is an integral part of our programme in all grades.

Creative Art

Art is an important part of the classroom experience and is an integral part of the learning programme. Children learn new skills and are encouraged to explore their own creativity. This culminates in the Art and Craft exhibition which is held in October each year.

Computers

All learners are taught basic care of computers and the basics in MSWord, MSExcel and PowerPoint by our full-time computer teacher. They are also exposed to educational games which develop mathematical and language skills and promote confidence in the use of the computer.

Media

Our inviting Media Centre encourages a love of books and reading. Interesting displays are on show which stimulate an interest in learning more about the world we live in.
